Product Review: Kiehl's Calendula Herbal Extract Toner Alcohol-Free

Toners or astringents exist for a reason - they rehydrate and replenish the skin with nutrients, cooling and refreshing it at the same time. I believe most men would usually skip this step as we tend to find it a hassle or it is kind of 'sissy', and also because to us men, time is money!

In fact, I do not have a habit of using toner after washing up and get ready to start off the day. Not until I was converted when I was recommended to the Calendula Herbal Extract Toner Alcohol-Free from Kiehl's. What caught my attention was the phrase "Alcohol-Free" as I strongly detest the lingering note of alcohol, as though I have just made a trip to a hospital ward! Secondly, although alcohol has bactericidal and soothing properties, I still cannot imagine splattering it to know that it would eventually cause dehydration, which is kind of self-contradictory for a toner product.

Kiehl's Calendula Herbal Extract Toner Alcohol-Free is a non-messy product and very easy to use. I do not use it with cotton pads because I find it a hassle (yes but that's just me!). So what I did was I tapped out a few drops from the bottle's flip cap onto my palm and pat it on the face. Calendula (marigold) has been well-known for its anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties and commonly made into aromatherapy products or essential oils. In this case for the toner, it is made with the real Calendula flowers (and soaked with a considerable amount of the petals). It has a feeble pleasant floral aroma with nutty hints that makes me feel recharged and ready for the day! Thanks Kiehl's!
